Transing Boundaries is Now on Ghost!
When we know better we do better + what you need to know + an upcoming event
This is meant to just be a quick post to let folks know what's going on, why you might have gotten a bunch of emails from Ghost, and what we're doing moving forward.
When I joined Substack, it was because it was the go to place for these types of newsletters. It was easy to set up, there was a built in network, and made it easy for folks who wanted to financially support my work to do so. But lately I've been reading more and more about Substack's corporate support for neo-Nazis and the rise of fascism in the U.S. and after some reflection decided that I did not want to support that. You may not know this if you are not a writer on Substack, but Substack takes a 10% cut of all of what its creators make through subscriptions, and once I learned about all of this, I could not justify that 10% going to the company. The choice to move to Ghost specifically comes with following several other creators, all of whom are just trying to do our best to make as close to ethical choices as possible.
Ghost also does not take a cut of subscriptions, instead having creators pay a monthly fee, so you can be assured that from here on out 100% of what you're spending on this blog goes directly to helping me buy groceries and cat treats (Merlin thanks you for your support), and not to corporate overlords attempting to align themselves with Trump/Musk.
So what does this mean for you, the readers? In terms of my past content, it has all already been imported, so you can find it here, all in one spot.
If you are a free subscriber, hopefully you won't have to do a thing! If I set everything up correctly and imported everything right, you should still get the same content straight to your inbox.
If you are a paid subscriber, first of all, thank you! You will still be recieving the same benefits you did before, and I am working on hopefully developing some new ones as well! From what I can tell, y'all will need to go back into Substack, cancel your subscription there, and then return here to resubscribe with your payment schedule of choice! All paid subscribers have been comped either 1 month or 1 year based on how they currently choose to pay to prevent double payments, so you won't need to resubscribe until your comped subscription runs out. The payments will still go through Stripe, the servicer that both platforms use, I just don't seem to have the ability to transfer your payment over to Ghost on my end.
Thank y'all for your support so far, and please share this to anyone who might be interested. Ghost as a platform is still growing, and I'm working on learning how to use it, so your support is appreciated now more than ever!
Now then, I also mentioned an event in the subheader!
If you're in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area, I will be speaking for the Triangle Freethought Society on March 8, talking about trans rights, Christian nationalism, and the role of gender in fascist movements! You can find the event info here: https://www.trianglefreethought.org/2025-events/kat-grant-march-2025
Good luck everyone, and I'll be back soon with a new, proper blog post later this week!
